Hotels are not cheap in Austin. As a centralized city, if you want to find somewhere you can walk or cab to from a night out drinking, get someplace within a few miles of downtown or close to the UT campus.  Hotel San Jose is a hidden gem if you can book a room! Make sure you reserve before you go.
