Hot Fish Club (Murrells Inlet)

United States
33° 32' 24.0432" N, 79° 3' 1.7748" W

Restaurant by day, fun bar at night. The Hot Fish Club "Gazebo" opens at night and always seems to have a band. There is a fun mix of people at this bar from college age to older. The entire bar is open air and overlooks the Inlet. It can get a little steamy at times, but the breeze from the water tends to cool it off. There is also a large grassy area where you can either sit on a picnic bench or just stand by the water. This is my favorite place to go at night because it is much more low key than the typical club or bar.

Club Kryptonite (Myrtle Beach)

Club Kryptonite
2925 Hollywood Dr
Myrtle Beach, SC

33° 43' 12.6084" N, 78° 52' 47.3556" W

This place is an enormous dance club two story dance club that is exactly what you think a dance club should be. There are a lot of scantily clad girls and dudes in muscle T's. It always seems to have a line so if clubs are your thing, get there early. Even if you aren't a 'clubber' it is still a fun place to go for a change of pace. But like I said, get there early or you will spend at least 30 minutes waiting to get in. http://www.club-kryptonite.com/

Broadway at the Beach

33° 42' 48.1212" N, 78° 52' 42.2184" W

One of the best places to go in all of Myrtle Beach, Broadway at the Beach turns into a wild place. There are 8-10 bars that are all interconnected around a courtyard. Since all the bars are under the same ownership, you can walk from bar to bar carrying your beers and also through the courtyard area. There are tons of young people congregated here and a mix of great places for everyone. There is a piano bar, several dance clubs, an irish pub, and more. This place can be really enjoyable for a large group or just a few people.

Walk the boardwalk at Barefoot Landing

Barefoot Landing is located in the North Myrtle Beach. It is a mixture of little shops, restaurants, and entertainment. All of this is located along a series of boardwalks that cross over a marsh. This is a great place to relax or just go grab a bit to eat and enjoy an evening. It is not where you would go out for a night, don't expect a raucos atmosphere. Highlights include a T Bonz restaurant, the Alabama Theater, and the Alligator Adventure. For more info, see http://www.barefootlanding.com/

NASCAR Cafe (Myrtle Beach)

1808 21st Ave North
Myrtle Beach, SC
United States
33° 42' 57.168" N, 78° 53' 25.1268" W

If you want a true Myrtle Beach experience, there is no better place to go then to the Nascar Cafe. Go get a few beers, some bar food, play the nascar video games, and enjoy the massive amounts of Nascar memorabilia. It is a good time to be had by all. I mean seriously, if you are in Myrtle, you need to get the Myrtle experience.

Conch Cafe (Garden City)

1800 N. Waccamaw Dr
Garden City, SC
United States
33° 35' 27.1428" N, 78° 59' 9.5172" W

Located on the beach, across the street from Oceanside Village, this is one of the best restaurants in all of Myrtle. It has a large deck that overlooks a usually very active public beach. Walk up here for a mixed drink or for their famous shrimp wrapped with bacon (still to this day one of the best things I have ever tasted). It is located within walking distance of the Garden City Peer. For more info, see http://www.conchcafe.net/

Hot Fish Club (Murrells Inlet)

Murrells Inlet, SC

The Hot Fist Cafe is located in Murrells Inlet. It is a great and reasonably priced seafood restaurant that overlooks an inlet. In addition to the good food, it becomes a local hotspot at night. Definitely one of the best seafood places around. For more info, see http://www.hotfishclub.com/restr.htm

Fish the Jetty at Huntington Beach State Park

You can park and walk out onto this secluded beach to do a little fishing. There are two jetties or you can fish straight from the beach. This is a nice relaxing place to come, drink a few beers, and catch a few fish. It is located on Highway 17 near Murrells Inlet. For more information, see http://www.lowcountry-sc.com/huntington/park.htm

Wild, Water, & Wheels

Who says water parks are for kids? Wild, Water, Wheels is a fun place to spend a hot afternoon. The slide they call the "free fall cliff dive" is quite an experience. After you shake of the wedgie at the bottom, you realize that you just basically fell for several seconds...it is great. There are also other slides for the more faint of heart as well as a lazy river and wave pool. It is reasonably priced and located in Surfside Beach, just north of Garden City.

Tupelo Bay Golf Center

There are tons of golf courses around Myrtle Beach. However, Tupelo Bay is a great place to go spend a few hours knocking around the old golf ball. The main course at Tupelo Bay is an Executive Golf Course. The holes are a mixture of par 3's and 4's (the longest of which are roughly 300 yards). It is a great place to take a crew that wants to go have fun and get some sun. There is also a regular par 3 course. This, unlike most courses, offer golf carts for all you non-walking golfers. Finally, there is a great putt-putt course (Runaway Bay).

Overview

Student Overview

Myrtle Beach, SC is a great place for any Road Trip. The area is a long stretch of beach that is a favorite of many North and South Carolinians. It is a place where year round fun can be had. However, the summer is when the beaches are crowded with a wide range of people and the clubs are hopping.

It should be noted that the title "Myrtle Beach" is actually used to describe an area that is made up of many smaller beaches located around Myrtle Beach itself. This is broken up into three main areas.

It should be noted that the title "Myrtle Beach" is actually used to describe an area that is made up of many smaller beaches located around Myrtle Beach itself. This is broken up into three main areas.

Murrels Inlet and Garden City are two beaches located south of Myrtle. These beaches are generally considered 'quieter' than their glitzier neighbor to the north, and are a great place to relax during the day. This is typically conisdered a 'classier' local than Myrtle and you are more likely to find a house for rent during the summer than a large hotel. Also, the food here is fantastic an is a favorite of area locals.

Myrtle Beach is what you think of as a party beach that has a mixture of families, high school kids, and locals. Ideally, I would suggest that you stay either north or south of Myrtle, and venture here when you want to cruise the strip (which will take you 4 hours and is really not worth doing) or if you want to go to one of the 50 Wings type stores available. There ar a plethora of hotels that are located on the beach and a variety of bars/clubs that range from either 18 or 21 and up. From end to end, Myrtle will take you 30+ minutes to drive as there are only two options on roads to take, either Highway 17 or Highway 17 By-pass.
